There will be no Racers Session on the 30th of May -09

Hi folks,

due to the Youth Omnium being on in Dundee and me being occupied with "family responsibilities"  there will be no Racers session on Saturday morning .

The track will be open for training if you have your own bike and adult supervision.

See you all on Sunday for the Racers Omnium meeting.

Regards Allister

Information update for folk coming to the Edinburgh  Racers Youth Omnium on Sunday .

*Please pass this on to any one you know is coming to the event and may not read this forum*

The weather forecast is pretty good with sunshine all the way and 17C temps so bring your sun screen and plenty to drink !

As you may know the Edinburgh Marathon is on the same day.

The organisers tell me there should be "no problem" getting in to the velodrome at Meadowbank and that access roads will be open on the approaches from the east and west of the stadium.

I have attached a link for the full details of the road closures.

**Do look at this especially the marathon route so as you know what to avoid**

I think there will be MAJOR MAJOR  congestion and would advise that you leave plenty of time and use the route off Leith walk and along London road.

Avoid the coast road and any where on the route as there will be "Traffic Locks" giving priority to runners.

We have 77 riders on the start sheet so signing on and gear check is going to take a while.

The track will be open from 9.15 am for warm up gear check and sign o from 9.30 am to 10.30

Racing starts at 11 am prompt.

It's going to be a great day out ,

Best Regards

ESCA Sprint Championships 2009

THE EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO ANOTHER DATE TO BE FIXED LATER AFTER CONSULTATION.

Problem with notification of Officials, and the BC and SC Calendars both being down, and with the ESCA Championship events having been deleted in error, except for the 4 June Pursuit Champs revised date.

I am looking into the revised Sprint Champs best dates, and whether the 21 June 1KM + 10Km date can safely go ahead.

The 4 June date looks uncertain due to the European Parliamentary Election for the Scotland Region which have been called for 4th June, 2009.

There are also implications for the use of Council premises at Meadowbank Sports centre.

I am unsure as yet how this will affect the ESCA Pursuit scheduled for that date as Meadowbank is used for counting votes as well as polling station  .

I will update you when information is available.

Pleas pass this on to your fellow competitors

Ok Racers,

if you have not entered the Omnium at Dundee on the 30th and the Racers event on the 31st you had better do this now !

The best way is on line at :

www.entrycentral.com/index.php?raceID=100162

There is an event limit at 66 + 4 with no late entries or entry on the day.

if your entry is not in by the 17th of May there is no way you will be racing :-(

WHIP WATCH; Still not found think a 16t dura ace sprocket is also missing from the same occasion. If anyone sees a sprocket with a white (tip ex) dot on it i would love it back (makes warming up a bit easier).

Have you seen Callum Skinner's chain whip ??

Need a bit of help,

Some one has "borrowed" Callum Skinner's chain whip and forgotten to return it before he had to go home from the Meadowbank Track League on the 21st April

This is a very special tool  ( a bit like Callum ! ) and is not available in the shops or any where else.
It's made of laser cut stainless steel bar with finger grips approx 40cm long by 8cm wide and 8mm thick. It has a lenth of Izumi 1/8" chain riveted on the end

Laser engraved on the side of the tool in 5 cm high letters and filled with black paint is the word " T A N K " it's pretty distinctive and was custom made for him in the best engineering shop in the world as part of his British Championship preparation.

As an Olympic Development Plan rider he has to change his gear 2 or three times every session so it's a crucial bit of kit.

If you see it around can you give it to any of the Racers riders or officials or pop it in to Bicycle repair man's shop.

Callum will need it to go to the Junior European Championships in Belarus in July.

Thanks  for reading this far.
